Types of Resources Class 10⇨1.On the basis of Origin; 2.On the basis of Exhaustiblity; 3.On the basis of ownership; 4.On the basis of status of development.
Types of Resources |
1.On the basis of Origin : Biotic and Abiotic.
Biotic :
Biotic Components |
- Those resources which is Living in Nature.
- Biosphere composes biotic resources.
Abiotic :
Abiotic Components |
- Those Resources which are found non living in nature.
- Such as rocks and minerals.
2.On the basis of exhaustibility : Renewable and non-renewable.
Renewable Resources :
- These resources which can be renewed in short period of time.
- These resources cannot be exhausted with time it generated by nature.
- Such as: Sunlight,wind;natural vegetation,wildlife,tidal energy,etc.
- It is divided into- i.Flow or continous; ii.Biological
i.Flow or continous:
Flow resources include water, air, and sunlight. Running water, wind, and sunlight are called flow resources because they flow or move.
Sunlight,wind,Tidal energy, etc.
ii.Biological:
Those resources which are formed through biological process.
Natural vegetation,wildlife.
3.On the basis of Ownership:
a.Individual:
Individual Resources |
- Those resources owned by a private individual is known as Individual Resources.
- For e.g.,Land, houses or field; etc.
b.Community:
Community Resources |
- As the name suggest us that this type of resources is utilized by all members of a community.
- for e.g.; public wells, public ghats,playground,garden;etc.
c.National:
National Resources |
- Resources which is owned by a nation.
- for e.g.; Wildlife, vegetation, water resources, etc. within the political boundary and oceanic resources within the territorial water(oceanic resources within 12 nautical (19.2km)miles from coastal regions of a nation) are owned by nation.
d.Inter-national Resources :
International Resources |
- Those resources beyond the Economic exclusive zone(beyond 200 km in ocean) is owned by the international institutions.
- Foe e.g.;The oceanic resources beyond 200 km.
4.On the Basis of status of development:
a.Potential resources:
- Those resources which are found in a region but it is not surveyed and not been utilized.
- for e.g.;In gujarat and Rajasthan there is huge amount of wind and solar energy but they have not been utilized.
b.Developed resources:
- Those resources which are utilized and there quality and quantity was surveyed.
- for e.g.; generating energy through coal; burning fossil fuels;etc.
c.Reserve resources:
- These resources which we know how to utilize and also suitable technology but we are not utilizing in large scale.
- for e.g.; Hydroelectricity.
d.Stock resources:
- Despite of availability of modern technology we do not have developed a lot to use some resources around us and they are stocked for future.
- for e.g.; water is a compound of two inflammable gases; hydrogen and oxygen, which can be used as a rich source of energy. But we do not have the required technical‘know-how’ to use them for this purpose.Hence, it can be considered as stock.
